LET'S PROMOTE RENEWABLE ENERGY

Iowa is already a leader in wind energy production, an exciting renewable resource that also promises to boost our state economy. Let’s build more wind turbines.

            >> A modern wind turbine can produce enough electricity to power about 332 “average” households a year.

            >> MidAmerican Energy, based in Des Moines, Iowa, is now going to 85% wind energy and is planning 100%

            renewable energy for its customers.

Iowa also has lots of sun, so let’s also build solar grids.

Imagine more "clean" wind and solar farms across Iowa and less carbon-producing ethanol refineries and oil and gas pipelines. Imagine our commercial buildings using solar power to keep the lights on.

            >> Commercial buildings create 38% of carbon in the nation due to the amount of electricity it takes to

            power them.
